-Developed countries have called for an easing of debts owed by HIPCs (Canada is a forerunner in this)
Approximately 800 million people who live in third world countries are starving or malnourished, even though humanity produces enough food that we could feed every single person inhabiting earth. Most developing countries are in debt to first world countries who have loaned them money, trying to support them but never got paid back because of lack in structure. Many countries in the poverty trap have low HDI ratings because of disease, child labour, low life expectancy and populations of people suffering. Canada has introduced micro-loans which are small amounts of money given to individuals or business. These are sucessfull because a small sum of money is more likely to be paid back. Canada has also become a forerunner for the easing of debts owed by HIPCs to first world countries, because of how difficult and harsh it has become in the developing countries.
