Although the damage of poverty affects all who suffer from it, the minorities of Women and Children have an even more grave and stressful life. Because women and children do not have many rights, with most third world countries being male dominated. Men are the providers for the family and often travel in order to get work so the women are left to take care of the family. The rise and fall of the economy is tied to fertility rates because women put off having children due to financial stress. In third world countries however, families tend to be very large as children will grow up and start providing for the family as soon as they can. Children are very vulnerable to poverty, getting affected by it severely even as young as five years old. Most countries who are in substantial poverty have a high morality rate for young children. Child labour and child soldiers also add too the high death rate among young children.
