Most English speaking Canadians quickly joined the war, but the French Canadians were against it, because they didn't want to fight for the British. This created controversy in Canada about whether or not to send troops, but in the end many Canadians fought and died along side the Britsh. Native Americans, black men and Asians were not allowed to fight because of the racism back then and women were also seen as too weak to fight, so they were army nurses.
