Representative Democracy, Constitutional Monarch and Federal State
A Representative Democracy is when someone votes of behalf of the people in a parliament, rather then having them all vote on every issue. Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy, because we have our own constitution but also a monarch, The Queen, who is represented by the Governor General in Canada. Canada maintains a Constitutional Monarchy because of sentimental reasons and symbolic value in still having Britain be a part of our country. A Federal State is when there are provincial levels of government as well as federal levels of government. This differs from a legislative union because in that there are only municipal and federal levels of government.
