Poverty is a huge problem all over the world and billions of people are affected by it. Poverty ridden countries usually lack the infrastructure needed that developed countries have. Most of the countries at the bottom of the Human Development Index are usually in debt to developed countries who have loaned them money to try and provide some relief. Poverty is different in developing and developed countries, so in order to measure is the poverty line. It is the minimum level of income deemed adequate in a given country. For instance, earning a dollar a day is a figure set for a poverty line, and there are actually 1.3 billion people below that. Poverty is determined by what level of the population in a country cannot afford basic needs i.e. food, shelter,clothing. Recently, Canada has set it's poverty line based on a set income figure for each person. It is intended to represent an income threshold below which a family will likely devote a larger share of its income on the necessities of food shelter and clothing than the average family. Poverty is a general absence of quality of life, regarding economic freedom, a safe clean environment and freedom of expression.
