The Legislative Branch includes parliament and the senate. Parliament sits between September and June, with breaks in which Members of Parliament visit their ridings. The leader of the party who wins most seats in the election forms the government. The party with the second most votes is the opposition party. The two parties debate about the governments decisions during the Question Periods The Senate has to pass the bill a second time in order for it to become a law. Much of the public want a senate reform as it is not democratic and they would like to see a change.
